I have been running on MC version 6 and am considering upgrading to version 7.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
Can version 6 and version 7 run side by side?
Does the data get migrated across?
Any help appreciated?
Cheers,
Dan

1. Wait one or two more days for MC7 final to come out (expected today), then download it, run it, done.
2. No.
3. Yes.
4. Very simple, painless process. As always, if something is important to you make sure you have a known good backup at all times.

Thanks Mike.
Version 7 has just been released, together with videos although the documentation appears to be the old versions...
So downloading and backing up computer before I attempt my upgrade.
Will keep the forum posted about my progress

Backed up.
Upgraded program.
Interestingly, MC is now backing up my Studies / Indicators before recompiling...
Took a while to compile all the studies, with no visual updates, stuck at 16 seconds to go for minutes, I thought it had hung...
But MC launches, all data there, all workspaces, everything appears ok
Will continue checking and experimenting this weekend.

I can't get it to let me download. It won't accept my UserID. I've tried both my Registration Code and Registration Name. Neither is accepted.
What did you use?

The user Id is different than the registration code and name. You can find it under
"help", "About Multicharts ", there you will see the version # you have installed on your pc, to whom it is licensed to and your user ID.

Everything worked fine for me. Be sure you are going to Help - About for your userid. Email support or go to live chat tomorrow and they can help you.

I am a TS 9 user and just downloaded MultiCharts 7. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get TS data into MC. I have viewed the video on the MC web page, but when I attempt to add a symbol (by following the video instructions), I get an error that says I must have administrator or poweruser rights to connect to Tradestation and in parenthesis it states that cache was not able to load. I have tried it with the TS program opened and closed and get the same error. Any ideas? Or can you point me in the right direction to figure it out?
Thanks.

Please start a new thread, this thread is about existing MC users upgrading to MC7. But briefly, it sounds like your workstation is locked down and your logged in user doesn't have admin rights. If you didn't do this yourself, contact your network administrator or the person who setup your machine.
