Not really... I think SSDs makes sense in a laptop (due to the lack of moving parts), but in your case I'd probably get Raptors instead. I argue they still are the best hard drives... But others might disagree...

That's what I suspected. Normal hard drives that spin fast and have a big cache seem to be the best compromise of speed and reliability still. I'm all for solid state becoming the norm but I just don't think they are there yet from what I have read.

With the Z68 chip you listed in your specs you can use a SSD caching system - early reports are that this is worthwhile (note that I have not used it myself so I would encourage you to browse the net for reviews of it). Buy a small SSD and a decent mechanical drive and let the BIOS (or should I say UEFI) run the hybrid system.
