Question: how to get BMT home page w/out scroll bar
For some reason futures.io (formerly BMT) homepage on my IE 8 has a scroll bar on the bottom(been that way forever) and is frankly annoying. It is the only site that does this, I have 125% zoom as default and I don't want to change it because I would need a magnifying glass otherwise. Is there a simple answer to get the whole page without the scroll bar ?
P.S. when I go to any forum everything is fine, it's only on the home page
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
There is a simple answer. You need to buy a larger screen.
I have checked a number of websites with various browsers. For all websites there will appear a scroll bar below sooner or later depending on the zoom factor.
The home page of Big Mike's trading forum will even produce a scroll bar with a 100% zoom. If I want to read or write a post without scroll bars, I can use a zoom of 124% on my screen. Only 125% produces the scroll bar.
Probably the zoom factor that can be produced without a scroll bar depends on the resolution of the screen.
So other than switching your screen to a zoom factor of 124%, I can only suggest to buy a larger screen, such as adapted to your visual capabilities.
@kbit, what is your screen resolution and what you are browsing futures.io (formerly BMT) from? Notebook, home? I'd like to better understand why your resolution is low.
The site has been optimized to work on 1400 wide resolutions, or larger. This pretty much covers any 15" LCD notebook monitor or bigger, and pretty much any 17" home workstation LCD or bigger. According to Google Analytics, less than 10% of people view the site don't have that resolution or better.
As you mentioned, this is only a requirement for the home page. I do have some plans to make changes to the home page soon, but we'll have to see If it is possible to rework it so it works on smaller screens, I will.
It is a 19 inch monitor, 1280 x1024..desktop flatscreen. It does work on my larger monitors but the 19 is what I use for internet browsing/surfing. After looking I discovered the same situation on my laptop at 125 zoom, that one is a 15 inch at 1600 x 900, though it is not that bad really
The changes you made seem to work fine. I usually view the forum on a 15.6 laptop and always had the scroll bar problem. I thought it was my laptop's problem and got used to it. So..........................I'm glad its not there anymore.
Thanks for the change in width Big Mike. I too use non-widescreen monitors.
I can not understand why they are building monitors that are not as tall as they were before widescreen when everything, articles and my spreadsheets, are vertical, not wide. Just makes for more annoying scrolling.
