I just got around to watching the hobbit and I was blown away. I thought it was better than the lotr movies.
The only thing that bothered me was the ending because I really wanted to see how everything turned out.
Now I'm left wanting to read the books and rewatch lotr.

Glad you liked it Itchymoku! Yes, I'm of the opinion the critics panned it because they felt the wind was blowing the other way this time. But the Hobbit is really a great story all on it's own, and Jackson treats us to extra material that are still found from the appendices and some from ancillary material but it's all from the author in some form or another. There's a lot of subtext and themes hinted at, especially Christian themes and freewill occasionally rewarding the faithful with miracles and deliverance. But casual audiences may not get it though Jackson and crew do their best to hint at everything not spelled out through production design, music and other movie elements.

It's really about a middle aged guy/Hobbit who steps out of his mundane privileged life to see more of the world. Even Frodo was supposed to be like 15 years older than how he was shown in the LOTR movies. I would just wait for the next movie in one month! (going to be awesome) , then pick up the Silmarillion and ancillary posthumous books whose notes and his creation of Middle Earth actually predates Hobbit and LOTR when Tolkien was a horse trainer/trench soldier in WWI.

Watched Elysium. What a complete waste of what had so much potential. It was absolutely terrible.

looks interesting. I recently saw the new hunger games movie and it was alright. I'd give it a solid 80 out of 100. The first half was pretty much plot and talking while the last half and especially the last 1/4th was solely action. The ending was unsatisfying and it looks like I'll have to see the next movie as I was unaware there was going to be one since I didn't read the books. It's a nice escape and worth a watch.

Watched "Jobs". A real disappointment. The movie did not cover his death at all, or the last many years at Apple. This is a gross oversight and a real disappointment.

I decided to keep my good memories on the subject with the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. I figured no movie would really top that movie regarding the initial story of Jobs and Gates. There's something about Ashton Kutcher I really don't like although I did kind of like The Butterfly Effect.

It's a great solid movie, well at least I thought so. Bill thought it was pretty accurate, I guess he thought the scene with bulldozer was funny lol. The prank the actor Noah Wyle did was hilarious because he impersonated Jobs at the mac world convention.

"Steve Jobs' only public response occurred at the 1999 Macworld Expo. After Pirates of Silicon Valley had aired, Jobs contacted Noah Wyle by phone. He told Wyle that while he "hated the movie" and "hated the script," he thought that "you were good" and that "you do look like me." [5] Jobs then told Wyle: "Listen, we do this thing every year called the Macworld convention. It's in New York, at the Javits Center. There will be about 10,000 people there. And I think it would be hilarious if you came out on stage dressed as me and did the first five minutes of my keynote address. " -

you'd have to watch the movie first to really get it but here's a clip of it

here's a trailer of the movie
