While I don't know how to use the site completely, it is a great place. Many have invested a lot of time to offer indicators to help others trade better. I think making everyone who wants to download an indicator become an Elite member is a great idea. I. for one applaud the idea.
First of all thank you Big Mike for all the effort you put in to the futures.io (formerly BMT) forum! I started using NT a few month ago and I'm still in the learning process. But your forum has helped me making a lot of progress. I've been an elite member from the beginning on and it was of great value for me to have access to everything. I haven't posted anything so far because I'm right now soaking up as much information as I can. I have no knowledge in programming, but through the usage of all the indicators I got into it a bit. I'm trying to program my own indicators, still learning a lot.
I've been reading a lot in different threads to improve my trading and I made the experience that as of lately there are more and more destructive, off topic posts in some of those threads as well as people that jump into the thread at some point, having no idea what it all is about and post some "crap". I don't know if those people are "elite" members or not, but it certainly pulls the quality down.
I think this system the way you have it right now regarding the indicators is great, because if some of the developers want to have their indies only available for Elite members they can already do it. And some want to put their indies just out there for everyone. If someone takes advantage of that and sells it to others, that's wrong, but I don't think you can prevent it.
Further I feel like everybody (elite member or not) should be able to READ the thread and look at the pictures posted but only elite members should be able to post a comment in the forum and be able to download anything/watch webinars.
So far my thoughts on that subject.
Thank you again for your big effort and keep it up!
Good idea, I am for Elite only download. But I also think that if a free member has received certain number of "thanks", they should have that access. The main goal should be to increase posts, good posts.
Thanks
Kareem
I think it was Sharky that said, 'people will be people'. He's right! You can put locks on your doors but they only keep the honest people out. Code thieves will access the Elite section regardless of conditions or price.
I appreciate the forum the way it is and have enormous gratitude to those who contribute so generously.
Personally I'm in a learning phase...I would love to be a 'serious trader'. I haven't posted because I've got nothing of value to contribute yet. Setting a minimum number of posts would have people like me posting drivel just to stay on the forum.
As I said earlier I like the way the forum is, my only suggestion would be tighten up registration and moderation of the site, valid email details etc. I'm not that computer savvy but there must be ways of keeping the pests of your site.
The programmers who're nice enough to share their work are doing so within and for the community. Let's not take them for granted or let their work be stolen without the thief at least having to paying for it. To all the great programmers and traders on this site who share what they have to offer, I'd just like to say Thank You!
Hello Mike. I'm new to the site and still learning the ropes. So I have not posted yet, but I have no problem with having to become an elite member to access downloads. Thank, Stones
There's two things going on here, two reasons why people come to this site. One is as a community of honest and generous and may I say incredibly honest and generous people with a common interest. The other is as a source of profit making solutions. This site is never marketed like a course in profit making but I'm sure that's what the Downloads section is to a lot of people and it seems fair to charge. But charge in a friendly-benfit to you-we want you here new guy way. I think charge per download in the non-elite section, not much but enough to say outsiders you're welcome here and you pay for the value you receive, try it cheap, as a benefit, not a punishment and if you like it join up. Ie, Big Mike is doing something for you Mr Outsider by giving you downloads at a price less than membership & if you like it come on in.
