I am looking for reccomendations to host NT7. I am looking to run one strategy 24/7 but i do not trust my internet connection to stay up consistently enough.
thanks so much
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
@sam028 runs a nice inexpensive service for forum members. The network is from Steadfast. You might contact him. If you do a search for VPS you'll find other threads discussing this.
Today I have connected one of my customers to the servers offered by @sam028
Seamless, effortless and the support provided by Sam was nothing short of magnifico
half of my day is spent on hooking up platforms for new customers, and the number of running programs that I see on their screen is out of this world (sorry, LOLx3)
Skype, 3 demo platforms open trading forex, futures, stocks... a chat rooms, email, Facebook, ALL these things add up, it slows your computer and adds to latency.
What Sam provides is a clean environment that you place your orders from and those who are far from the exchange or experiencer latency issues should consider it. His prices are below the reasonable and we are going to recommend to all our customers. If you have 10K minimum with Optimus, we will pay first month free.
Matt

Its is good, if the VPS or root server has with the broker server and the dataprovider same global loaction.
A european broker server for eurex trading, has a faster connect to a european IT center.
A asia exchange with a local broker server needs a trading server for example in hongkong.
For GLOBEX trading with a US located broker needs a trading server in USA.
Technical for NT7(better 64bit) can use any dualcore 2ghz or better 64Bit windows servers with 2GB or more. Harddiskspace 50GB+ (multi terra bytes is nice, faster and secure is better... current standard 200..500GB Raid1 !)
=> A actual highend I7-2600,32GB-RAM,2x3TB SATA600 Raid1 with W2008R2-WebServer cost only 75EUR/month !!!
(a "simple" AMD dualcore with 4GB and W2008R2-WebServer cost here in germany 65EUR/month)
Hetzner Online AG: Root Server Product Matrix EX
The Provider is one of the biggest 3 in germany. This only for compare compare the technical features and the current (05/2012) realistic prices for true ROOT Servers.
My private mine: a "shared" VPS with VIRTUAL Harddiskspace is not the best base for running NT7.
NT7 need "private" Memory and Harddisk speed. Here in germany a dualcore VPS with a slow virtual hard disk cost 25..30EUR/month... a true own server cost the double monthly rate and for 10EUR extra its give a highend I7/32GB... i think many people have a smaller PC in the home or office
This is germany. Compare that to the US rates for server hosting and you wonder when the US turned 3rd world country.
The best offer I could find is a 16gb hexacore (AMD Phenom II) for abot 190 USD per month including 100mbigt traffic and windows standard server, dual 1tb hard disc. Hosting chicago, but not financial (i.e. not a specialized colocator for that).
Quite a lot more expensive than what I can get from half a dozen providers in germany. And that is with german costs being a lot higher than in the USA (power for example).
please give a link to nice us hoster, i happy and ready for a test. The nominal cost and hardware is one side, the advantage of loaction is the other side...
Thanks @TimeTrade, something wrong with the DNS, I'm working on it.
Of course, my new vendor status do not allow me to add any comment in this thread (I'll have to ban myself, or become schyzophren ), but I also found crazy the price differences between Europe and USA, it's 2 to 3 times cheaper in Europe, and I don't really understand why...
You can write me a PM with links or any other more technical and commercial informations.
My interests: your IT center with ping times and tracert lists for Ninja,CQG,DTNiqfeed,...

..."cheaper in Europe, and I don't really understand why"...
we have here shorter distances and more concurrent countrys/providers. If my german provider to expansive, i can go to CH or GB and my ping time is nearly the same... i think BigMike has no problems, if you say, you give worldwide the european prices for all locations
Having used those services in Europe, they can be fine if you don't need 100% uptime or aren't using them for trading. They specialize in cheap, not in quality. Most of them specialize in torrents or usenet hosting, which means low tier bandwidth. And of course the latency would make it not good for any trading application.
You can find plenty of cheap hosts in the US too, on par with Europe pricing. But again, not if you want the focus to be on uptime. I've tried dozens over the years so have a lot of experience in this area.
