Interested In Opinions of Sierra Chart Users Who Switched From Multicharts
lipton, thanks very much for the information you've provided. I'm not a 'power user' either, and I don't really enjoy trying out a lot of different platforms to find a good fit for myself. Input from others really does help define the field and speed up the process.
Like you, I use very few indicators, trade AAPL more than anything, no auto trading, no backtesting. I'm certainly not a programmer. I would much rather spend my time trading and working on my refining and improving my trading techniques than investigating charting platforms and data feeds. Sounds like we are somewhat similar in some of these respects, so hopefully I would be able to adapt to SC as quickly as you have.
Thanks again,
Ged
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I am using volume profiles on most of the instruments I trade. I do not use delta studies except for interest rate instruments (ZN, ZB). Both are just secondary tools for me as I primarily trade price action.
In Sierra, you might be interested in studies like Volume by Price, Cumulative delta bars (volume/tick) or Numbers bars for footprint-like chart. I have several configurations, usually based on reversal bar (Chart settings / Bar type / reversal in ticks).
rani, just wanted to let you know that our discussions re SC have borne some fruit.
As my demo at SC expired recently, and without having experienced much use, yesterday I started an account there, coupled IQ Feed. Yesterday and today I began putting together my trading platform in SC, and more closely studying the documentation. Its a good looking program and, at this early stage, I'm pleased with features I'm finding and how it is coming together.
Thanks again for your input and helpful suggestions.
I am intrested in SC or MC and read a few posts but cant find anything on scanning on lower (and multiple) time frames.
Who has experience with this? and would you like to share your experience
I am using trade navigator at this moment but TN is only able to scan markets on weekly or end of day (EOD) criteria and lot on the lower time frames.
Is it possible to use MC or SC charting software for scanning (futures list) real time on multiple time frames including the lower timeframes?
Example Criteria:
1) EOD = previous bar (day) is an inside day
2) M240 chart: CCI (6) is higher than 100 and previous bar of MACD (x,x) < MACD (x,x)
3) M60 chart: CCI (6) is higher than 100 and ADX is lower than 25
4) M60 chart: close of bar = higher than open of bar
5) M15 chart: CCI (6) is higher than 0
Further more I would like to know if I have to keep my desktop on 24 hours to guarantee trades placed thru the charting software to be activated by the broker?
thanks
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread (new here)
