seawinde,
I completely agree with everybody who is saying to think big, have a vision, a goal, and take it one step at a time. There's nothing wrong with marketing but if that's not what you want to do in the long-term, then why? There may be a reason but you need to ask yourself what it is. Totally agree with getting into the field that you want to be in now.
I'm past the mid-point of my life and if I have any regrets, as well, it's when I didn't pursue my vision and do 100% to achieve it. Now, I've done a lot and intend to do still more. I've quit many jobs and travelled and am doing what I enjoy.
Think about what you really are passionate about and what you want to do in the long-term. You need to be passionate about it because, if you're not, you will not do it well enough to excel. And that's what you want to do, excel, to have the most fulfilling life you can have, and enjoy what you're doing.
It's good you're thinking about this when you're young. If you can work and excel at your passion when you're young, you have so many more years to do even more and branch out to new and bolder things.
Good luck,
Michael
