That is an expensive backup option. Most people have ready access to cellular as a backup, but installing satellite as a backup would be costly.
You don't want to use satellite as a primary connection unless you are in the middle of nowhere and can't get 3G or 4G.
And I would disagree on 'much better than cellular'. 4G cellular is faster than many people's home internet and has a respectable latency. But the convenience of 3G or 4G is that you already have it, just use your phone to broadcast a wi-fi signal to your desktop, buy a $10 USB dongle if needed to receive the wi-fi signal, and now you have a backup internet plan.

WAY out of Nashville, in the sticks. We bought a piece of land and had to run water and power out to it.
No small distance. Every time I call the cable guys to see when they will be out in my area, they just laugh!!
My backup plan is the trading desk on speed dial!!

So good .... it appears the Virtual server gag is just the ticket. I won't pursue the satellite bit.
