NASHVILLE, Tenn.—A female shooter opened fire inside a private Christian school in Nashville, Tenn., killing six people before being killed by responding police, authorities said.

The heavily-armed, 28-year-old suspect killed three students and three adults at Covenant School in the Green Hills neighborhood on Monday morning, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

Nashville Police Chief John Drake said police have been told the suspect was a former student of the school.
