I normally don't engage with people who think like this, because it's just a waste of time. I have nothing to prove and let the site speak for itself. But I thought I would go ahead (probably a mistake...) and reply to a few things:
By far, the greatest number of banned people on futures.io (formerly BMT) are vendors. Vendors range from "trading educators" to "brokers" that stoop to all kinds of tactics in order to promote their product. Some big named brokerages have created duplicate accounts and pretended to be users, talk trash about competitors and then praise themselves. It's happened multiple times for futures brokers, it's happened probably dozens of times for forex brokers, and it's happened dozens of times more for just general "educators" selling stuff.
I get approached by countless vendors every week that want to pay me money in order to advertise on the site. I say no to 99% of them. These are vendors that you will find advertising on other sites like ET, but that I want nothing to do with. It is not about the money. If it was, I would be like the other forums and let them advertise.
I'd like the poster to provide the futures.io (formerly BMT) usernames of people that he says are "very smart people that got banned for attacking vendors". That is completely ridiculous, so lets have the names and we'll discuss.
I of course strongly disagree. futures.io (formerly BMT) hands down has the best posters of any trading forum in the world. I won't spend any time trying to convince someone. If they can't see it for themselves, then I would rather they leave because I don't want them here.
I wish! LOL. Baron's site has been around a long, long time. Although we have overtaken in terms of activity, he still has more site related revenue than I do. Like I said before, it's not about the money for me. Perhaps that is why futures.io (formerly BMT) is so different than other forums.
Thanks.
I don't post on ET, so I decided instead to respond to you here on futures.io (formerly BMT). I don't know your futures.io (formerly BMT) username, or if you even have an account here. It seems clear to me you really have no idea about futures.io (formerly BMT) based on what you wrote. Again you say we ban people for disagreeing with us, so I am waiting to hear the specifics from you so we can discuss.
I started futures.io (formerly BMT) years ago because I could no longer stand other forums that were full of childish behavior and "trolls". You had to read 20 pages of crap in order to read 1 useful post. All the mudslinging was ridiculous, so since I have a strong technology background, I thought I would create my own forum. 3.5 years later, the community has spoken and I am extremely proud of what we've accomplished together. futures.io (formerly BMT) has surpassed the other forums in terms of site content, quality, and trading activity, and I am very proud. Baron was an innovator 12 years ago when he started ET and he is to be congratulated for the service he provided to the trading community all those years ago. But if I were Baron, I would not be proud of what ET has become. I will do my best to make sure futures.io (formerly BMT) does not have that same destiny.
futures.io (formerly BMT) was like a lighthouse that got me pointed in the right direction towards getting a real trading education. If there was no forum and just the webinars the cost of elite membership would be more than worth it. The other place, not so much. Maybe just me though.
C'mon now ladies and gents. Let's not use this kind of language. Just when we (futures.io (formerly BMT)) are arguing that we (futures.io (formerly BMT)) are a better forum that the other forums. Let's state facts about why futures.io (formerly BMT) is better, instead of just insults.
I dont mean to insult, I occasionally post and read on ET as well, and I don't mean to name call, but for me ET is often like digging through the wreckage of a plane crash to find the black box. Where in comparison futures.io (formerly BMT) is well organized and has a great search utility.
futures.io (formerly BMT) is smaller and that's a good thing, I can follow peoples ideas from conception through development without being drown out by noise.
I do worry about how futures.io (formerly BMT) will develop as it continues to grow, being that it is run entirely by two people (mike and sam?). Hopefully futures.io (formerly BMT) wont suffer from economies of scale.
I spent some time on ET before futures.io (formerly BMT). I found it a treasure trove of flame wars, massive amounts of crap hiding the occasional nugget of wisdom.
I know futures.io (formerly BMT) has its detractors but in all honesty, people are friendly here and the rules against flaming and shameless self promotion are really good.
