Effective July 1, 2013, the Elite Membership fee will increase from $50 to $100 for Lifetime access.
I consulted with many members before coming to this decision. The overwhelming majority of members told me that Elite Membership is far too cheap. Some suggested charging $100/mo, some suggested $500 for Lifetime.
It is important to me to ensure that futures.io (formerly BMT) is made up of members who care about the community and want to be here. This is the fundamental basis of the Elite Membership program, and why I am increasing it. Over the last four years, futures.io (formerly BMT) has grown from nothing into the most active futures trading forum in the world. In order to ensure we continue to focus on quality content and sense of community, I am raising the Elite Membership fee.
As I have said many times before, I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together over the last four years, and I look forward to all that we will continue to accomplish over the next four.
The change will only affect new Elite Members that sign-up on or after July 1, 2013. All existing Elite Members will see no change. Consider this ample notice
I am once again bumping this thread so that everyone has ample notice.
Also, as of the post above in February, I've modified all screens for non-Elite members to notify them of the fee increase as of July 1.
This change is necessary to prevent the forum from being overrun with those who aren't serious about trading and/or are not serious about supporting the community to which we all belong. It is very important to me to protect the community and to not allow those who would ruin it for all with to be part of it.
This is the last notice. Fee increase goes into effect in 1 week on Monday, July 1 2013. Everyone has received ample notice (over 4 months), all the "access denied/membership required" messages have shown the new fee will go into effect July 1st for several months now.
The problem with that would be how will potential new members know what a great community and resource futures.io (formerly BMT) is without getting a taste of it in the area's of the site that are free?
Personally if I came across a forum which was pay only I would move along swiftly because I would have no idea whether the members, content, discussions etc are worth paying for.
perhaps by seeing that there are over 40,000 members?
If that is a concern, make the sign up require a card. After 30 days if the "prospect" does not opt out by active cancel, the card gets hit for a one time fee of $100.
