The name "The Elite Circle" has special meaning for me. This Elite section of the forum is created for the people who have donated to support the site, in a way to show appreciation.
Around 1992 (I was a young teenager) I ran a very large BBS (bulletin board system, pre-Internet revolution). The BBS was actually one of the largest in Texas, back then I had 9 nodes and like 20 or 30GB on-line. I was a huge FidoNet hub back then, hosting every public group that existed (both file sharing and message groups). We're talking FrontDoor + PCBoard era, if anyone remembers. There were hundreds of paying members and thousands of free members, and I was making over $2,000 a month as a kid.
That was simply mind boggling back then, especially considering I was only 15.
Anyway, I took the site down because my mom was struggling to support us and even though it was bringing in $ 2,000 a month, I was paying out almost the same --- all the long distance bills and phone bills, new hardware, etc. It wasn't profitable.
So, one weekend I took everything down, sold all my computers, all my hardware, everything. I posted my list of stuff on a few BBS's around town and had a huge "garage sale" that weekend. All this equipment was top of the line hardware back then, and people just ate it up. There were so many other Sysops that came and I had a chance to meet everyone personally, everyone was amazed I was just a kid...lol.
I took the site down because my family needed the money that would be raised from its sale, and if I remember right, I probably raised over $5,000 that one weekend.
I kept one computer and continued on. :)
Anyway, please feel free to post exclusive content that you only want to share with other Elite members of the site. Don't post any copyright material directly on the futures.io (formerly BMT) server.
For instance, maybe you want to post a top-notch strategy, system, or indicator that you've developed, but don't want everyone else to see. Maybe you want help from a select group of fellow Elite-members to collaborate on a project, but want to keep it away from lurkers. etc.
