I'm not sure I've ever had a "proper vacation" but I spent my first two and a half years of college drinking and snowboarding. Also, I'm lucky enough to not have much to worry about, so there isn't a tremendous need for vacation. At least no more than the occasional "mental health day".
I love the beach. Loved my time in Kauai which is the most lazed out island in hawaii. 6 days of bliss. But that was really 8 years ago. Not had close to anything similar since then other than a few days in Miami...but nothing close to the quite and clam of Kauai.
Love Carmel / Tahoe for quick quiet getaways. And Vegas is always good for a day or two.
I went to Portland about 6 months ago and went sightseeing around the pacific northwest which was somewhat of a culture shock from someone who grew up around Philadelphia, but I'm not sure if that was considered "proper" since it was still in the United States. However, I believe everyone should go on a vacation for at least 1-2 weeks every year or two for their own well-being. I love to go to the beach a few times in the summer just to see something different to detract from everyday surroundings. In my opinion, it's very very important to get away every once in a while. Do it for yourself and pleasure your mind!

In 2008 I took a trip to the Philippines. It was an amazing trip, relaxing and having a lot of fun in another part of the world. The beaches look like something out of a post card. The clubs were fun and the food was amazing. I am in need of a two week vacation back to my hometown East Chicago,Indiana. It's been five years since I moved down to Central Florida and I haven't took the time to visit.I guess we get caught up in the rat race and lose track of time.
You forgot the option "I'm on one now!" Only for die hard futures.io (formerly BMT)ers... (or geeks)
I'm looking forward to my trip to the states later this week. I can get a lot of things over here, but East Coast seafood is NOT on that list. Can't wait! ...Hey, where's the lobster claw cracking smiley???

excellent question.
I don't know, but whenever it was, it was on a cruise, and it was to warmer, sunnier weather than what we were having in NY during the winter.
the sweet spot, and for most of those who also chose to sun themselves on deck, was when the Carnival ship hit the sweet spot in the Mexican Riviera as we were going further south, or was it on the return, hey, who cares, it was sunny and full of hope and relaxation.
Last vacation I took was in January to Schweitzer mountain in Idaho for a skiing vacation. Had a house right on the mountain that we could ski in and out of. It was my kids first time skiing and they picked it up and had a blast.
I really enjoy this site Mike. Thanks for creating this trading community.
