I think this is the way to go, I would like the board better organized as well. NT Programming should be together, and now there will be AddOns, BarsTypes, ChartStyles, DrawingTools, ImportTypes, Indicators..... This could get very messy with NT8 having 2 of everything.
The paywall really separates the serious forum users from the who knows what public. Before I joined futures.io (formerly BMT), I was dismayed of the number of foolish posts on other forums. I tried futures.io (formerly BMT) thinking if you got to pay then those would be serious traders.
If Elite threads are mixed with non-Elite then I presume the non-Elite reader would see an icon indicating it is an Elite thread.
The Elite member viewing a thread list would be presented with the world view and probably never use the non-Elite filter. I don't like to filter my possibilities. So there would be a diminishment of quality for me.
One goes to the men's club to relax and be in the company of like minded people. There is an atmosphere to it.
I think "search this thread" would be enhanced if the default was intra-word matches. For instance a search for "time" would yield "posttime" etc. instead of only the whole word "time". Even better would be some advanced search options "whole word", "match case" etc. like a text editor would offer.
Getting back to the new framework topic, I've been making a lot of progress.
I've written code to deal with all the old URL's in posts and threads and forum views, so that they get rewritten to the correct location on the new site.
The exception is links to a specific page number in a thread. For example, a link to page #11 in this thread (not post 11, just page 11) will not work on the new site, and will just redirect to page 1 (always page 1). This is a limitation of the conversion process. I am not overly concerned, I rarely see this type of link on futures.io (formerly BMT) - instead it's usually a permalink to a specific post, which does work.
I have also started to receive some work from one of the developers. I have a long list of projects, and he is finally making some progress.
Two major areas that still need a huge amount of work are the Downloads area, and the Webinars area. I think I will try and tackle them in a few weeks.
The beta site is still closed right now to you guys. I will open it again soon.
I do not know if its me not knowing how to use it or what but for me the futures.io (formerly BMT) search is horrible, almost never find what I am looking for.
Would it be possible/interesting to you to embed Google search on the site? I have used it on other sites and it seems to work very well. I do not know if that would cost money or what, just a thought.
