I use them in addition to my optionsXpress account. Love the DOM. Lightning fast trades. Don't like how they figure their limits on options on futures contracts. Supposedly that will change by the end of the year.
same here bluemele, I used them but you, 786, being in singapore, will have same problems - data lagging even with SC. Their platform just stops/disconnects, and god forbidden if you use indicators and try to change parameters during the busy periods (opening ES session). It is a .Net joke; do not waste your time and money even if the platform is for 'free'.
@met68 I actually really like this platform. I've used this specific platform for a few years now. OCO orders are held server side which is nice. I also like how you can adjust the layout to your liking and save it. So every time you log in, your lay out automatically comes up. The charts that come along with the platform are pretty basic but what's nice about this platform is that you can use many third party charts, such as Sierra Charts which have a low monthly cost. I think it's either $23 to $26 for Level 3 Charts and I think that's a great deal because the OEC platform overall is free. It looks like there are a lot of "white labels" for this platform. As you can see I use the E-Futures form of the platform with Cannon Trading. I like it because I have a broker I can call if I ever have an issue with the platform which is rare. OEC recently revamped the platform and I called my broker for a walk through because they did make some changes to the features of the platform. Overall the platform is really great for being free! I can switch to demo mode when I need to try out a new strategy if I'm not 100% confident which is a huge help. I think it's definitely worth trying out in demo at least
I currently use Cannon Trading's white label platform from OEC call E-Futures.
I haven't had any issues with it, and prefer it to other platforms. I like the charting, dom, market replay and other items that are available. Get a DEMO and see if you like it.
I give up. My search for a broker, platform, data feed combo that works reliably has hit yet an other dead end and I am minded giving-up this trading business, as I have wasted weeks, trying to just get a platform/ broker setup that actually works.
So, I have opened an account with OEC and was trying to use it with Sierrachart. Wow. What a mess.
Half the quotes in the quote board are simply not updating. Some quotes are just dead wrong (I have no idea where they get their NG quotes from (the call it GNG for some reason), but they are just plain wrong).
Some symbols are not recognised at all, despite picking them from their symbol list (e.g. M6E, M6B).
And then, 10 minutes into the open today, my ES chart just simply freezes. No idea why. Tried to 'reload and recalculate' the chart, without success. I had to shut-down SC and restart.
I think I will give this trading business a miss. I am not going to waste any more time with trying to find a broker, platform, data feed combo that meets my quite simple requirements and that actually works.
P.S. Should have added, that OEC support is VERY slow. Have tried posting some of the issues on their support forum yesterday. The post is still not published and/or answered. Have tried a live chat, but the agent was sooooo slow, that I gave up. To AMP's and IB's credit, their support is pretty quick in responding and grasping the issues. AMP have tried hard to solve some of the issues I had (e.g. with getting X_Trader Pro to work, alas without success). Have also sent the support team at OEC an e-mail some time ago and not heard back yet. OEC support does not feel like it is up to the task. I dread to think how I would feel if I was actually in a trade and was trying to get hold of them urgently.....
