You are right in your view,, around 99% of Futures market is automated as we speak with no human Trader at all , Stock market is not a zero sum game and as a result more difficult to tame it using close loop concept hence less algorithmic , Having said that even stock market is going that way with heuristic rules being programmed as an additional module to the rest of the code,,
I automated in Ninja for a bit to see if cash would match sim. Surprise surprise, it did not. The bottom line is in the fills. No matter how liberal sim is supposed to be, with price passing an entry before counting as filled, the house still won. I do have a few strats running on NT, but it's up to me to determine the market behavior, as to which strat will run.
I do not have any strategy that will run profitably in ALL markets.
Donīt be discouraged on programing trading robot. If you have a good system that works out fine for you, then go for it. One of my classmates wanted to take the fear out of his trading and he built one. He showed to our teacher whose programing help did a pretty good job. Their robot works just fine at the Emini.
