I just wanted to take a minute to update how Mosaico is working out with my windows, especially BookMap that has Java windows.
Not as well as I would have liked. It works great with standard windows but the BookMap Java windows it would get confused on Restore. So lets revisit the steps.- Get your windows in place the way you like them and want to set them the next time your trading.
- Take a snapshot.
- Use your restore function when ever needed if you moved some windows.
- But, let's say you close Ninja or BookMap for any reason, then restart Ninja or BookMap.
- Now anyone that has used BookMap with Ninja knows you have the first MAIN window that comes up with BookMap is the one you have to select Sim Or Live account.
- Then that window will populate your BookMap chart(s) and have a list in that window.
- So now you have all your BookMap windows open and you hit restore on Mosaico.
- Here is the problem, Mosaico will insert the Main BookMap window where you had one of your BookMap charts.
- End result you will have to manipulate the BookMap chart anyway to get it the way you like it...
- Then take a new snapshot.
- These last few steps kinda defeat the whole purpose of Mosaico and snapshots...
Don't know why it confuses the main window for a chart window but anyway, you still have to set things up and take a new snapshot. Every thing is fine until you either restart Ninja or BookMap. I recorded in BookMap so I had to stop BookMap every day to stop the days recording. So every day I had to reset the charts and take a new snapshot.
Other than that, Mosaico has worked great. Even with this minor setback, I'm probably going to buy Mosaico anyway. I already knew Java windows can be tricky to manipulate which is why I was asking trendisyourfriend about it before I tried it. Anyway, I'm glad I did try it because I like it. Thanks to trendisyourfriend for posting it up!
It doesn't matter about BookMap anyway, I cancelled my subscription and got a refund as I wasn't overly impressed with it.
I hope this helps some one out in the future who tries to use Mosaico with BookMap. And don't let this post talk you out of trying Mosaico. It's a cool program. It's just that Java windows can be tricky. Not really a fault of Mosaico.
