That's why I asked the OP which broker he is with. Because if he has SC through the special deal with AMP, you cannot get the FXCM feed and you cannot run two instances of SC.
Trust me it is right. I assume it is a condition that SC and AMP agreed to in return for the deal AMP has with SC. They must have something like an enterprise licence agreement with SC which results in a licence fee that is cheaper than if each user paid separately.
Consequently I believe SC have probably said well that is fine but the trader can only have one instance. And AMP have probably said well that is fine but we don't want the trader having access to FXCM as we want them trading with us if we are paying for the licence.
I have such a SC licence and I cannot run 2 instances and when you open up available data connection/services a number of them are commented out saying not available with this package.
Recently SC made an announcement saying all licences would be able to access SC's free FX feed. But a couple of us AMP users said it did not work. After looking at it, SC came back and said that it will NOT work for AMP users and they do not intend to rectify it.
To make it clear: if a trader (like me) has SC provided through the AMP arrangement the trader (me) is not paying anything for SC. I am on Package 3 and it costs me nothing. I think package 5 is like $20 or $25 pm.
There is a version of Sierra that is subsidized by AMP (aka "free" for the customer).
In this case it might be true, that they block any other feeds.
I have no experience with this variation.
If you bought Sierra directly from sierra, FX should work, even in combination with AMP as a broker.
I am with optimus futures. they are not a forex dealer. i can load the usd/jpy under find symbols-->forex, but it doesnt live stream. im not sure the data is even correct. when i load the usd/jpy it downloads some data and also says symbol unknown. when i asked sierra they said to check with my broker. and they said they are not a forex dealer. so thats why i figured my best bet was the JPY-x as a replacement.
@mattz from Optimus Futures is on this forum and will help you out. I think Optimus may have a similar deal with SC like AMP has. If so, and if this is the version of SC you have, you may find access to some feeds are blocked.
