friends from Haifa see bombers as still alive - potentially:

Scary, but plausible if facts confirmed. This would be consistent with the jihadists' M.O. to die as martyrs.

A lot of fingerpointing :

turkey to the netherlands/belgium
police forces amongst themselves
israel to belgium
local politicians amongst themselves

Nothing of this will bring back the victims..

But lets hope that his triggers a better international collaboration against terrorism
and that at least new future victims can be avoided

At least people are being captured in Belgium, Germany, France
which shows this is a real international problem

I have seen Gen Michael Hayden (Ex dir of both NSA and CIA) talk on a few occasions. He was recently on Real Time With Bill Maher and I must admit the man seems credible, at least his views in retirement have some ring of truth. Though a smattering of politics remains in saying that US forces would not carry out illegal orders, Machiavellian career officers did willfully and will do again IMHO,

His observations:
Ex-CIA director: EU 'gets in way' of security services - BBC News

I have little doubt of what he says however I used to work as a civilian contractor for the UK police at HQ level. A slight inside track gives me hope as at least my county's constabulary were more stoic and intelligent than I would have (perhaps cynically) assumed. I grew up in Rep. of Ireland throughout all the fun stuff, I know how my parent's generation successfully kept those with low impulse control from breaching the Rep/NI bomb quarantine. Smart men, working quietly.

It will be at least interesting (tragic) to see how the European/Russian/Arab/US oligarchs play this out. How much will be too much for them... But I suspect the West is going to play the slow and certain game mopping this up without excessive drama. We don't function so well at at a pan European level but it should be sufficient.

The root cause of Islamic terrorism is, in my view, rooted in the belief system held by extremists. I saw a video of an Islamic hate preacher who was teaching jihad in a street to kids no older than 6 ot 7 years of age. He was later in the video confronted by another guy about it.

So if we assume that a percentage of Islamic extremists are brainwashed into hating since childhood there's a real problem which is difficult to curb unless this kind of root cause is dealt with.

The original video has been taken off YouTube but when I find a copy I will post it here.
