Pretty much the same here. limited trading (just sim) and nil on programming etc.
Hard for me to add anything that others could use at this stage but I enjoy the site and hope and some point I can add something of value.
i say let the lurkers lurk, it doesnt bother me, any idea i have the whole world is free to hear if so many people are just for helping themselves anyway so there is nothing we can do to change that i hope that people are getting good ideas from me and i certanily am getting many great ideas from you guys so as long as we are getting what we need from each other who cares about the others, maybe one day they will feel comfortable with contributing untill then lets just keep on keeping on...sharky
I am completely intimidated to put my thoughts out there on trading on this site, to be honest. I am not on the same playing field as the rest of you, and I don't know that I'll ever be, as I don't have much interest/talent or skill in programming...
That said, I do appreciate the conversations here, and I find a reason I won't say much is that I fear my questions are so basic, that they would drain the rest of the people who are so much more advanced.. and I don't want to waste anyone's time.
A thought that I have though is to have more and more restricted circles for those who contribute more and consistently, as one possibility: the elite circle might be the more basic of the elite circles, whereas someone who posts indicators/higher percentage of posts has entry to another *more* elite circle... or those who donate more than one time are followed and allowed into a circle with all the newer indicators, but the current elite circle maintains only the indicators that have already been developed.. Just some ideas.
many thanks; I've learned a lot here and appreciate the effort. I was hoping that my money would suffice for now to make me a "non lurker." LOL
Its the old 80/20 rule playing out - I agree with previous posters that you will NEVER be able to pull lurkers into becoming posters. I view it as part of the path toward reaching your trading goal.
Bit like Sharky I have no problem with lurkers - also I myself oscillate between posting and lurking - that just sounds so funny!
If you make the download content non free it will just push people away in my view and this forum is unique - I hardly ever go to the NT support forum anymore - and that can only be good!
i agree mindset.
the thread here started in the very first days of the forum.
out of this mike activated the donation - idea -- and i think its working pretty well till now!
Thanks to all supporters that keep that great place here going on !
I'll tell you something you can do to get more folks to register. I've "signed up" to several forums simply because I couldn't view the screenshots that the guys post. (unless I was logged in.) I didn't mind signing up, and it really didn't annoy me.
As far as making a donation to get downloads...I don't have a problem with that either. $20 bucks, and you can download for 30 days. (not a bad deal at all)
I haven't donated, because I don't use indicators and Big Mike "donates" historical data for NT every month to everybody, free of charge.
Now, if you put the monthly historical data in the VIP section, I'll have to donate. Wait!!...forget I said that!!
I totally agree with Rjay. Everyone starts some where. Nobody was born right out of the box with their trading knowledge. Ask away. Most people are willing to help. I am new to this forum, but from what I have seen so far, Mike has put it together pretty well and the members all seem to want to help each other, unlike other forums where they feel they are superior and want to bash or put down other members because of thier EGO!
It seems Mike put this together to allow traders to share ideas as well as help one another.
Thanks Mike and to the rest of the members of this community for making it happen. I hope it stays this way.:bmt-rocks:
Thanks, you all are absolutely right that futures.io (formerly BMT) is clearly very supportive. I will consider starting a new thread, but most likely won't do it right now.
Sharky has given me some good direction, and I have a lot to work with-- thanks, again, Sharky!
If I get stumped by something, I am not so scared that I wouldn't ask. But there's a lot of answers out there by merely reading the threads. thanks again.
