As of today, TS does not work on Windows 10 64bit. They say they are solving the problem, but it is not a good option to sot and wait for them to figure out whats wrong. In my opinion it is a bit problem.
What alternatives are you guys taking to ensure continuance of your trading?
uninstalling the windows update that lead to the problem is said to cure the problem (according to posts in the TS forum by other users https://community.tradestation.com/Discussions/Topic.aspx?Topic_ID=152711). However this would remove the security fix included in the update.
One user in the thread I linked reported that TS 9.1 was still working after the update, so this might be a temporary solution.
Well I use TS 9.1 and I did not have this problem until now. I use the 9.1 because it is the version that I am used to and as far as I know is more stable than the current release.
Another reason to dislike and distrust Windows, @alko I have been looking for alternatives for some time and unfortunately there are not many due to Windows monopoly and also due to trading software developers do not "care" about others OS.
Windows fucked me big time last year I even got in depression for that...
If you want to get rid of TS then your best alternative is MultiCharts and if you need data feed IQ Feed; If you want to get rid of Windows then it seems like Investor/RT running on macOS, and you can use Investor/RT with IQ Feed and use studies coded in C++ as well. For Linux unfortunately there is not a viable and stable solution for trading as for the time being.
Sierra Charts is working on something to port SC to other OS, but it is a log term project and there is no time frame for that, unfortunately.
I would like to see SC on other OS.
TWS works on macOS but IB does not want do anything about their unreliable data and people does not want to code anything in Java... They could well offer reliable data at a small subscription fee and offer integration with other programming languages like python, but I do not thing they will do it.
Just because I said TS 9.1 was working, this weekend Microsoft Windows 10 update the system and now tonight as I turn the computer on TS 9.1 is not working on Windows 10 as for now.
This is unbelievable again Microsoft is fucking me over as usual...
I am using Win 7 and TS 9.1, so it is not impacting me. But I also heard that Win 7 is going to have an update on Tuesday.
I know the TS people are working with Microsoft on this, but it certainly sucks, for sure.
I have someone I work with use the following with success:
At this time there is a known issue with a recent windows update and the tradestation platform. You will need to rollback/uninstall the windows update. Below is the temporary fix. Hit Windows + I to open the Settings app and then click the “Update & security” option or click on the start menu and the settings icon:On the “Update & security” screen, switch to the “Windows Update” tab, and then click the “Update history” link.On the “View your update history” screen, click the “Uninstall updates” link.Next, you’ll see the familiar interface for uninstalling programs showing a history of recent updates sorted by installation date. You can use the search box at the top-right corner of the window to search for a specific update by its KB number, if you know the exact number of the update you want to uninstall. Select the update you want to remove, and then click the “Uninstall” button.- January 3, 2018—KB4056892 Once you remove the update you will need to restart your computer then relaunch TradeStation. If that still does not start up then you will need to uninstall then reinstall the platform. Also you might need to turn of the automatic windows update until an update has been released to the TradeStation platform which can take 2-3 weeks (if not sooner).
