This is a study of things that work in trading including the forecasting abilities of patterns. Well worth reading & then rereading as your trading matures. They're technical but not married to any magic strategy - the reviews on Amazon give a reasonable feel for the book.
Bulkowski is surely one of the best when it comes to chart patterns.
Just one pattern, as an example for his work I learned from reading him, I recognized today in the S^P 500 Index, Wanted to post it already in the Morning, but did not know this thread until now:
Sometimes they work very well and other times not. Today It would, as I am no more much active in the markets, worked nicely as is seen in the current, actual market screen shot:
The following is a small update to the above screenshots from the S&P 500 to show how strong chart patterns can really work without indicators.
Also on the Russel 2000, at the same time as the first screenshot of the "S&P 500" was made, a nice "Head and Shoulder Pattern" was visible on the hourly chart, which at the moment also shows its full strength. If you do not see it on this chart, then do not try to trade such patterns as you must be able to see them.
The only thing that was noticed here beside at the time the chart patterns where recognized was that the Nikkei 225 had already been falling for two days. So the probability of a correction in the US market was very high.
Hope that these facts and evidences on current daily live hourly charts contributes a little to the enthusiasm of these trading opportunities, even if I'm here only about TA and not about the strategies that can and must be associated with it.
