Maybe I have been using NT7's back-testing for too long. I couldn't get used to the one on NT8. The part where you have to save the results somewhere else is the most annoying. But the introduction of "Max Strength" as a metric is really good. I just had to programme it to work in NT7. So now, I back-test in NT7, and I trade in NT8. Working out well.

Check out BuildAlpha software, its rather a data mining software where it fits the entry rules to data and gives out best rules for given data. It divides data into sample and out-of-sample data so the rules can be analysed whether they are fitted to data or its a real edge. All this without coding. It has Python editor for custom indicators or rulesets.
Its more difficult to find a real edge in intraday data than EOD data.
