I just spoke to a sales guy from OEC and he told me that Collective2 charges traders $3.98 per round trip for gen3 futures trading. WOW! Add to that the commission for the broker and you are close to $8 to $9 round trip for each trade! Now that gets expensive in a hurry and may greatly reduce any profits made via a scalping strategy. Let's not forget that C2 also charges the strategy's author 30% of all profits - so both sides get charged.
Question1: Can someone confirm that C2 traders fee of $3.98 per round trip? I want to be sure about that before I move on to greener pastures.
Question2: What other avenues exist to allow me to offer a complete package to my own subscribers? All I need to do** is to relay my trading signals from NT to one or a handful of compatible brokers. I don't like the C2 option - what else is there?
Do you already have the subscribers, or are you going to use C2 to promote the system, and find customers ?
If don't already have your subscribers, C2 is the only good choice.
If not, you don't need it, you just have to write a piece of code which is sending the information orders directly to your subscribers. It will be cheaper and faster than C2.
I can't confirm the $3.98 per round trip, maybe something to do with OEC/Gen3 only.
Yes, I already have subs and yes, I already have written a module that sends them SMS/email alerts. But that won't work for my new scalping strategy, too many round trips per day and the entries are more time sensitive. And for obvious reasons I don't want to remote direct other people's accounts on my own - that would be a huge liability.
Thanks for the confirmation - that helps my decision immensely.
@molecool, you don't have to manage people's account by your own, and if your subscribers are using NT too, there is something not so difficult to do.
Just modify your strategy to act like the good old client/server model:
- the strategy you run is taking trades, but also send orders to client strategies, which are on your subscribers NT workstation;
- the customers strategy just need to listen to your "server" strategy, usingt received orders.
It can be done with basic socket coding, or any other smarter way (WCF, ...).
These are the limited informations I've found, here and here, and C2 autotrade details here.
But, extra-charge or not, I do not recommend C2.
It's really very funny to play with it as a systems creator, which runs his an ATS with his sim account, and a very good investment for him: only $98 every six month and, read on C2 website: "top systems on Collective2 earn between $9,000 and $15,000 per month in subscription revenue" (that's more than 10000%/year ).
Unfortunately, for the subscriber, the story is usually very different...
