I have some questions about your trade copier - especially the Ninjatrader8 Network Replicator version.
1) Can the replicator send trades from an NT8 account I am operating on my desktop to several other NT8 accounts on your VPS, each with its own license key?
2) Can it operate just on the VPS?
3) Is it able to do more complex ATM strategies -- trailing stops, stop to breakeven, etc.?
My goal is to trade in my personal account and also have those trades register in a combine account and -- down the road -- in two accounts I will manage (as CTA) for other folks.
Hi @jhugg - Apologize if you already knew this, but in the case that you don't- You can use the NT7 Account Groups feature to trade a live account and a combine account and have the entries copy each other. Once funded, you can also do this with MES Capital (OneUp) and Topstep funded accounts. I trade a live account and have all trades copied to a MES Capital funded account and it works seamlessly.
Notes--
- You don't need a multi-broker license to do this, you can do it on a single broker license.
- You would open 2 DOMS or Basic Entry Windows (maybe you can do this with chart trader as well but I've never used that). On the first one, under account you choose the Account Group you created (Tools-Options-Data-Account Grps). Then look at the top of that DOM or Basic Entry Window and you see which account is being controlled by that window. On the other DOM or Basic Entry Window, under account, simply choose the other one that is not listed at the top of the first window.
- If you set the same ATM strategy on both windows, you can actually scale out of positions on both your live account and combine/funded account by placing buy or sell scale out orders just on that first window which lists the account group. (If you flatten and close your position however, instead of scaling out with buy/sell orders, you will also have to flatten and close the position separately on the second DOM/Basic Entry window as well)
Again, if you already knew about this, than hopefully it helps someone else out that didn't know you can trade a live account and a combine/funded account and not have to enter orders twice.
Thanks for the detailed explanation, Trekke. I had heard of that feature, but hadn't pursued it because I don't know NT7. I agree it's too bad they eliminated it in NT8. I see folks have been requesting it for some time now....
