Any traders using performance enhancing drugs like Ritalin? How has that helped or hurt your trading.
Effects: Ritalin's effects begin shortly after ingestion and last about three hours. At low doses, methylphenidate increases alertness and focus, while blocking hunger and fatigue. Objective effects include increases in heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature.
The best performance enhancing drug is physical exercise prior to trading. It both reduces the body mass index and improves mental performance during the trading session.
Drugs are nonsense and do not help. Drinking a lot as well. Water, Darjeeling or Café Latte.
No, but I know alot of traders that use recreational drugs
Seriously, I'd be surprised if any did use Ritalin. Most good traders are already functioning at a high level mentally.
It's the afterhours downtime that often has traders searching for something extra to give themselves the same "rush".
Essence of Chicken is commonly used to increase concentration here in Asia for students.
I did not believe this at first, but I happened to the CAIA exam this year. It does work! both for studying and trading according to me. (1.5-3 hrs per bottle)
talk is cheap.
Go get one n try it yourself and you'll be surprised. make sure you get this brand
"BRAND'S".
There's a program on discovery channel on why chicken essence work. It's scientifically proved, not snake oil...
Modafinil, developed for narcolepsy and usually sold under the brand name Provigil
Methylphenidate, aka Ritalin or Concerta, a stimulant primarily used to treat ADHD and sometimes nicknamed 'kiddie coke'
Adderall, a mixture of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine used for ADHD and narcolepsy
Studies show around one in five US college students have taken smart drugs to help them study. It's thought they're becoming more widely used in the UK, too. They've also been trialled by the UK and US armies, and by pilots and astronauts.
I used to take Ginseng, bee pollen and Gingko Biloba for concentration and memory enhancement when going to school. It could have been a placebo effect but I recall feeling markedly more focused. Failing that, caffeine works wonders for some but I reckon a good night's sleep and 15 minutes of meditation to help quiet the mind will set you up with just the right combo of neurotransmitters to keep you well concentrated for the task at hand.
Besides, I have read that ritalin ironically has an opposite effect on adults as it does with kids, i.e. with kids, it helps them focus their attention whereas with adults, it tends to give a speed-esque hyperactivity
i agree get a good night of sleep have 2 or more massages a week and some starbucks soy iced chia tea, easy on the ice please lol, and your body will be in the right mindset for anything. Trading is really not hard or stressful once you get it, its the getting it part thats hard and nothing can help you learn faster than your mind can comprehend things...sharky
Ditto, Fat Tails & Sharky : A good nights sleep, regular exercise, and may I add good sex.
The whole idea is to be focused and alert, but relaxed and unemotional. The above troika is the best precursor for achieving that state of mental and physical well being.
