I'm fairly new to trading futures and I'm looking for a decent platform. I've tested buttontrader and really seem to like the built-in strategies and arbitrage feature.
What other platforms would you experienced traders recommend with similar features to buttontrader?
Thanks for this thread - the information provided by you and others has helped me. I am trying to keep things simple and I like the flexibility of NT. I believe that it will be good enough for now - maybe later I will have to reconsider others like buttontrader.
I'm using IB as well for many years and on a minute time frame I couldn't find any problems so far.
Using the tickdata (arrives as 1s data on MC) it depends. For ES-Future things are fine but for SPY you can throw away the tick data, especially for backtests the SPY-Tickdata is pure crap. Way too many spikes which you can't see in TWS but it arrives at MC.
Historical data is no problem for IB at all, way longer back than for many data services one can subscribe to. Since 2010 I record specific symbols and even 6 or 9 months off I can fetch tickdata, on a minute base it's several years, so there's no problem in fetching historical data just the way tick data are constructed.
