ok...as i stated i'm running nt7 and zenfire. that was my first post in this thread. i only mentioned cl but i also have tf, nq, es, and ym up on 5 min charts. no gap on live charts.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I am sorry to hear that you experienced an issue earlier this morning. To clarify -
- When you say froze, do you mean that the NinjaTrader application was unresponsive OR that data was not flowing?
- What version of NinjaTrader are you using?
- One …
No problem here, Sierra Chart + OEC and Sierra Chart +TT. I have 11 charts running in the foreground, 30+ charts in the background with symbols ES, ZN, 6E, ZS and CL.
As traders we take some risk, risk that we try to minimize, now this is fine however operational risk is not a good one to take on as it has no reward tied to it. This is great advice and I will strongly consider doing this, however I am unhappy that I have to create redundancy where my service provider has failed to. I am now considering a more professional robust platform.
It appears that the problem is related to the historical feed, this means switch from a 5 min to a 1 min and you have missing data. Not only this but how in the world can you have any faith what so ever as to the accuracy of the ticks displayed during that troubling time period. Well at least they plan to fix it over the weekend -> This is a joke in markets where where traders demand accuracy to the tick. Todays events have highlighted the overall weakness of Ninja and Zen, and this is indisputable and this is not the first time it has been made public that his problem exists.
I am a tough customer, I came out of this with a gain. However it could have just as easily been a loss attributed to operational failure, which is not acceptable to me one bit. futures.io (formerly BMT) is a community for traders, not a platform for providing hackneyed advertising for inferior products. It is my hope that other traders will read this post and profit from it either by creating additional redundancy in their systems to mitigate operational risks or consider switching to an alternate service provider.
If you are in any way associated with NT you should disclose it, otherwise I have no idea as to why you would defend something that is so evidently flawed. There was a F&^% up today, a mojor one that probably cost people money and your supporting this? What planet are you living on market wizard?
If these issues were highlighted before, why did you still chose to use this platform then? You knowingly accepted the risk and to complain about something you knew can happen doesn't make much sense. Additionally, you also do not want to build in redundancy even though you demand accuracy to the tick. What will you do when your power goes out, your hard disk crash, your motherboard blow up, your ISP goes down? As a trader you need to learn to take responsibility for your actions and inactions.
Insulting respected members of futures.io (formerly BMT) just because they don't give you the answer you were looking for and acting like a jackass is not going to get you anywhere.
If you expect to never have issues/outages and switch platforms everytime you encounter an issue, you will switch quite frequently. Issues will happen with any platform.
You are right, I never should have signed on given the poor track record NT has for scalpers who require accuracy. This was a mistake on my part and I am glad you have put attention to it, NT should not be used by anyone who requires reliability, good point.
I should not have to build redundancy if I am paying for it, it was just misrepresented and OPUD (over promised under delivered). I will now consider creating redundancy before continuing on, or at least until I transition to a more professional software.
In terms of operations, I am glad you bring up this point. For power outages I use APC battery backup I highly recommend battery backup for all traders. Hard disk crash, well I have hotswap drives backed up and ready to go. I try to update them frequently.
Your are right traders do need to take responsibility, I hope this thread will prevent other traders from making the same mistakes. As you can see from an operational standpoint I have done quite a bit to ensure security. As for the platform, I was not expecting to be so disappointed by it, however I will now compensate for platforms deficiency.
Insulting a respected futures.io (formerly BMT) member....PLEASE he is not Jim Simmons he is a trader like the rest of us and he had a stupid "head in the sand solution" to this apparent problem. Not what I would expect from a self proclaimed market wizard. Be objective, are you a trader, if so then you should be able to clearly sift through the BS and analyze critically. The software if deficient I pointed this out, defend it as you wish but it is an uphill battle.
It's 5 months that I run every day NT with Kineticks never ever got a problem with NT, I just got a problem with Kineticks for 5 hours 3 or 4 months ago switch data to IB and every thing run perfectly. I have use every system and I find NT very realiable
