Thank you for making this point ej, I think its an important feature that I did not know. Being able to run a notebook while trading on the desktop not only provides additional screen space, but helpful redundancy in the event of a power failure.
Thanks much,
Ged

please note the datafeed limitations as well - most of the time - only one connection is supported ( essentially you can use only one computer at a time with a feed(typically and there are exceptions when brokers allow multi-connections). With IB - you can configure in a different way to use remote computer but it's another topic).
- pick a platform you like
- pick the datafeed after that (if you haven't done already).
rithmic - should go well any of the above platforms ( matt@Optimus is a good guy to work with).
PS: no affiliation with Matt but just recommending based on personal experience.
edit - looks like - you are also looking for stocks feed. in that case - rithmic wont fit your needs.
ej, correct on Rithmic, I'd need Zen if I went that route.
With MC you can have multiple data feeds into the same chart (not sure about SC), but right now we're looking at this from the point of view of having two computers live (possible with SC). A configuration of DTN as primary feed to chart, and IB feed live on notebook (for redundancy) should be workable. If you are aware of a reason this would not work, that would be of interest.
Don't understand what you mean by using 2 computers live - IQ is only datafeed.
- with any of the platforms - you can have a mix of feeds at the sametime.
MC/NT - the implementation is different ( you can only launch once but connect to various feeds as needed)
SC - you can run any number of SC instances on a computer ( total 2 computers but you can run any number of copies on each one) - each one would be connected to single datafeed - but would allow you to use one service for data and one for broker connectivity(using remote chart feature).
if you are going to use IQ feed with any platform of your choice - it should be fine.
If you are not planning to perform any volume/tick based analysis and only going to use for brokerage needs - IB should be fine as well.
Just an awkward way of me restating your point that it is possible to have SC running on two computers at the same time, whereas this is not possible with MC. Very good point.
