I am always impressed by how fast and stable it is. I tend to play around with new chart types and indicators (I'm a full-time swing trader and don't trade every day, so I like to keep busy learning). I haven't pruned back my charts lately, so for example here is what I have running every day now: 3 Sierra instances connected to 3 different services (IB, DTN, SC FXCM), 25 chart books with 50 separate streaming symbols and 127 different charts. I have volume by price, tpo, volume bars, P&F, range, bidxask 3 line break, Renko amongst others. Most of my data is stored as tick data. All of the data and chartbooks run off a ram disk.
In two years, I don't recall Sierra ever crashing or even lagging on me. I'll even write and debug custom studies on my main trading chart while waiting for a trade without ever causing a problem. I am probably going to get rid of some of these extra charts now, but Sierra is so rock solid that I never have performance be the reason for doing so.
Yes, check out the webinar - he went into quite a bit of detail about the chart trading features including attached order (targets/stops) for positions not-yet-filled, like buy stop/sell stops, plus regular orders like limit or market orders.
What package level of Sierra Charts do we get Velocity? There's 1, 3, and 5: packages You need the Level 5 to get the Bid/Ask price ladders and TPO chart studies. My broker only offers the package 1 with a charge so I'm not using it.
You get package 3 free. Package 5 is available if you do more volume, I think it was 150 round turns a month but best to ask your rep directly for confirmation.
Please do me a favor and report any problems with playback. This particular re-encode gave me a lot of trouble and I want to make sure everyone can play it fine.
