Yesterday i didn`t had enough time for trading, so i didn't trade.
Today i traded
i missed one great trade (entered my order but didn't catch it) and i`m quite happy that i didn't got frustrated and pulled off trades i don't want to take.
Both are neutral trade range trades, on top of the markets range:
1st trade:
- Mistimed ad bit
+ Patience with taking profit max to take was 6 when it ran 5 ticks in my favor i pushed the stop to +1 and it bounced against the stop, so +1tick
2nd trade:
+good timing
- patience
I quickly got out of the trade because the speed wasn't in the move (i need the speed for no doubts during the trade)
as you can see the pivot was quite near so i assumed that it would turn around, and i took 1 tick once again.
I stopped because the markets where getting more sticky.
Both trades where on CL
i attached a screenshot of both trades.
if you have questions ask them!
What can i say, yesterday was a very active day so active that i was too tired to post a journal so i do it now.
Trendtrading is my biggest challenge (i have quite a counter-trend mindset) so yesterday was quite a heavy day for me:
I took 7 trades:
Trade 1: FDAX, i saw this trade as a double top and then the bounce back to go further down (this all because the market dropped bigtime the whole mornig) but it was a small uptrend so i got clipped -6 ticks
Trade 2: FDAX a neutral market trade, but it broke out to the upside. quite about the same mistake as trade 1, my mindset was too much to the downside.-6
Trade 3: FDAX After a small pause, and i knew what i did wrong, i trade a long (so thats finally with the trend now) +5
Trade 4: CL Trend was "neutral" but the trade didn't work out -6
Trade 5: CL An example of bad luck, Traded long, got some profit (and didn't want another loser, so my stop was +1) and the market hit the stop exactly. (and then run away) +1
Trade 6: CL Short following the trend, this was the only perfect trade for the day +8
Trade 7: CL Jumped in a bit too late, moved the stop to +1 and got bounced out.
Due to high market movement i think i got a bit over-excited but overall i think i didn't seen the trend good enough.
Mostly before i pull off a trade i do the first trades in my head, to check if my mindset is right... they where right, and when i pull them off with cash they go wrong because the market has changed (offcourse)
So it was -$98 for today, and i am not satisfied, but also not dissatisfied as i reduced my losses on in the afternoon.
Thanks to the journal i came to the conclusion that i have to focus on the big move (not the tick by tick approach)
i focus myself now on lighter futures with bigger profit targets and stops, this is less in tense for me and i have more time to decide if i want to trade a setup.
I`m happy that i have made the journal, because it helped me clear some things up.
also jagui`s journal was intresting to read as he seems to have a lot in common with me.
