A trading strategy in which a trader buys (sells) when other traders are still selling (buying) ie the countertrend trader is trying to pick the bottom (top). A countertrend strategy follows the trading philosophy of "buy low, sell high." Those who utilize a countertrend strategy often use a stop just past the recent low (high), as such successful contertrend trades often have a good reward to risk ratio, but on the other hand the
win rate can be lower than more typical 'with trend' trading strategies.
