GPU or Graphics Processing Unit is an optimised electronic circuit. It can rapidly manipulate memory cells and blocks of memory cells in order to create fluent images and video.
Under certain circumstances GPUs have been used for specific calculation intensive tasks like Cryptocurrency mining and Artificial Intelligence. Due to the architecture GPUs can perform basic calculations many times faster due to their parallel approach using thousands of core's compared to the traditional CPU (central processing unit).
