According to the DCOT reports for futures only, the specs (Money Managers) have been getting out of longs and buying shorts at a large rate the last 5 weeks. Last report as of 4/24/12. This is for 19 commodities CL, RB, HO, NG, C, W, S, SM, GC, SI, HG, CC, CT, KC, SB, OJ, LB, LC, FC, LH.

Long position decrease -135,642
Short position increase +195,767
Net change +331,409

And this number includes the +80,070 net gain for S and SM during those same weeks. Take them out and you get a net change of +411,479.

Any opinions on why this movement? Were they getting ready for the "sell in May and go away" drop that happened the last 2 years? Some other reason?
