This tread will discuss auto trading with Ninja Trader 7. I am by no means an expert on this subject but have learned quite a bit about what doesn't work and why. If you are starting out, hopefully this thread can save you months of frustration and maybe lost money (hopefully you are SIM TRADING to start your testing). I will start out with a discussion of some of the general points of Auto-trading (which may be applicable to other trading systems) and along the way dive into details and hopefully we can get a "Holy Grail" working for us by the end of the thread. The Holy Grail would be a nice end product, but my hopes is to give you the tools and information you need to implement your own profitable strategy (hopefully you will share it with us when you do). I will be coding with the C# editor so it would be helpful if you have some pogramming background.
If we are lucky, the PROs at autotrading will join in with words of advice. [Yes, you PROs can Chuckle as we bump into issues.]
I will also share some of the tools I have used to decode what is happining in the back ground. Also understand, I have traded stocks for about 1 year. I am a programmer more than a trader. What I am setting out to accomplish is to teach NT7 how to recognise profitable situations and trade or how to make more than it looses (slower and more stressful for the observer). I have used many of the Indicators and Strategies already posted on this board. I usually take them as add a GHP prefix so that I can customize the functionality to talk better with my strategy. I do not take credit for the idea or indicator, I simply tweaked it to work how I needed.
The follow is a list of topics I would like to discuss within this thread. I am sure more will get added a long the way.
