I think I understand what Raven is looking for in an Entry signal. That is, in BH I set up an "Entry Logic" that gives me a signal for either long or short positions. When Raven sees these it will either go long or short as the case may be. Graphically, my Entry logic shows up as either green racing stripes (long) or red racing stripes (short). This makes sense...
But what about the exit signal? I set up the logic so that I define the right conditions to get out of a position. But what should the logic output? That is, for an Entry signal the logic output is signaling +1 for longs and -1 for shorts. What should the exit logic output? -1 for longs and +1 for shorts (which is what I would naively guess)
The reason I ask is that when I backtest using Raven and NT7 Strategy Analyzer, the best result I get is when I specify the NT7 entry criteria to be my Entry logic and the NT7 exit criteria to again be my Entry logic which at some level I might be persuaded to be correct if what Raven/NT are looking at when my Entry logic stops signaling +1 or -1 (depending on whether I am long or short - ie. when the racing stripes stop).
