What are you doing while you wait for one of those quality setups to show up?
There really are only two or three times during the day when I should be putting on a trade - the rest of my time is very valuable, and I'd like to use it well. I know I should be staying in touch with the market and assessing the action, but I also know I should not be holding my breath at every tick.
Today I put a notebook filled with graph paper next to me on the desk, and tried to work on non-trading related projects on one screen while keeping the market on the other. I had my "scenarios" written in pencil in the notebook, along with some levels to watch, and when I thought the market deserved my attention I scribbled my observations down on paper. The rest of the time I tried to do be productive in other areas. It worked all right, but it was still at times an awkward setup.
Since waiting is such an important part of trading well, what is everybody doing while they wait?
