I have been wanting to start a journal for a while to track my progess as a trader and to share some of the things I've learned over the years through my own studies. I have also learned learned so much from the journals here on futures.io (formerly BMT). I thought I would show how I have applied some of the things I have learned from others journals recently. I have a day job so I will only be able to watch the markets from 5:30 - 6:30 am (I'm a morning person) Pacific time. There seems to be a few nice swings as volume comes into CL in the morning. I have alot of background in elliott and have been recently been working with wyckoff. I guess when you take a step back from it all its a support and resistance model. As I start to think about indicators, I have to admit that I am distracted by bright shiny objects. I tried alot of different indicators, almost of FatTails', I've spent time trying to curve fit moving averages into Gary's magic moving average and finally refined it down to a few that I have found useful trying to keep it simple and get rid of stuff I don't use in the decision making process. I use a 10-70 macd to get a short term bias, a 3/10 macd for a little early warning of a trend unfolding, weis wave/swing points to see volume strengh and an ALMA moving average with the default settings to help with setup and entry. I have been working on a trade sheet that has my trading plan all on one sheet like DavidR posted in his TST thread but catered to my own needs which I'll post soon after a little more tweaking. Here is a chart of what I am looking at in my main screen. I probally need to add more info about what I am doing but do that as I go. I welcome any comments/constructive criticism/questions.
