Bollinger bands, also known as BBs or Bollies which I well usefrom now on, were developed by John Bollinger in the 1980's as a way to measure volatility in a stocks price. Actually this overlay can be used on other indicators thought there are few …
They were there and now they are gone....It is on your side....not mine.
The 'proof' is often only in the beer or in the spirits, rarely of the spirits, and we still don't understand which spirit is currently involved. Still, I know what it must feel like to think everybody else think's you're crazy - I take tablets for it, but then I am. Have a great weekend.
Hahaha....Well I was asked to "prove my" my allegations. Well I set up a test post with 3 images embedded which was submitted properly and the the images were visible for a few hours then the images disappeared.
Then I see thoughts that I might have deleted the images...perhaps it was meant that I reentered the post and edited out the images...I am trying to help and proving something where I don't know the software or have access to it is difficult. Fifteen years ago one of my careers I was as a software tester/debugger for a software house with an application with 750,000 lines of VB code...I have some knowledge of the trials and tribulations of responding to software problems...though a bit dated now.
I don't play silly games of deleting content for fun.
Here is a screen shot of the edit of the post that I recently linked to showing the images have disappeared.
this is the final proof that I can provide that there is an issue on your side.
I have shown the embedded images that no longer appear.
this has happened suddenly and may be an issue with a recent change you have made.
Now I would like to go back to what I like to do and that is talk about How I use indicators and overlays for long term trading.
I have now experienced the same problem, as have others. Maybe Mike can find a solution or I guess it will have to wait for futures.io (formerly BMT)5. It is rare in it's appearance, though you seem to have encountered the most grief with it. Do you upload the images all at once or add them one at a time? And do you Embed from inside the File Manager or with the browser page button? Whichever methods(X4) is/are failing try the other(s), unless they are all duff for you.
I've built a desktop drag/drop auto uploader as part of ChartMinder that does circumvent this issue, but it's no use unless you were running a free download copy of NinjaTrader and the indicator. You wouldn't need a datafeed (Kinetic EOD supplied anyway), but it's not an ideal workaround unless you're happy to install Ninja and run it, it is a free download.
Well on one hand I am happy I am not the only one to experience this, on the other I know from being a software debugger in my past how difficult it is to fix an intermittent problem.
There is no need to download Ninja trader because I don't do options/futures or day trading.
It usually happens on a long post that I compose in the message window. I might download one or two charts using Attachment Manager and insert them when required...perhaps download another chart or two if needed. I do several previews during the creation of the message on long one....it can take maybe 15-20 minutes to complete a post...that is why at one time I wondered if there was a time out on the submission of the attachments.
The charts are always there during the preview and when I have submitted the post .... it is only an hour or so later that they disappear.
Sometimes I forget to close the Attachment Manager window before submitting the post and I wonder if that is the problem?? I think that the act of submitting the new post should automatically close that window.
MY solution is to compose my post offline using a flat text file (Notepad) with spaces left for inserting the graphics. Then copying and pasting this into the message window, downloading the charts using Attachment Manager, embedding the charts in proper place , running a preview to check formatting...make corrections then submitting the post. The whole process then takes 3-5 mins tops. I never had a problem when I did it this way but after several weeks I went back to the other way.
I think I run into this problem more than most because I use a lot more charts in my discussions.
Thanks for your confirmation that others have experienced this problem. There is nothing more frustrating than believing you are the only one suffering the problem.
I cannot think of what could possibly cause this problem. Until there is a reproducible method available it is not something I can likely fix, with just two people reporting the problem --- and only sometimes.
