Are you sure this indicator is working, I'm not seeing any difference from normal scrolling behavior when I add it and play with the parameters. The indicator crashes when I use very high or low numbers in the parameters, like LookBack=5, TickRange=1000. If I say LookBack=10,000 and TickRange=10, there is no difference in the NT scrolling behavior. Can you give an example of the params you use and what behavior I am suppose to see?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I generally have my look back set to 200 - 300 bars, and the tick range set between 70 - 90. I mostly trade YM, NQ, and 6B -- the values will probably be different for ES, CL, etc. In your first example, the look back is too low, and in your second example, the tick range is too low.
As the indi creator alludes to in his description, it's primarily intended for the times when price enters a narrow range and the bars become too stretched vertically by default NT scaling. This indi attempts to fix that by adding a buffer above and below a narrow range, thereby keeping bars more normal looking. When price is in a healthy trend, the chart will revert to default NT scaling (also described by creator).
Since photog53 hangs out on this site from time to time, maybe he can chime in with more details (I've only been using it for a couple weeks).
What I really need is the ability to disable the adjustment of the absolute range of the Y-axis - basically disable the drag feature and keep enabled only the ctrl-drag feature. I asked ninja support about this and they said they'd create an enhancement request.
I really just want to normalize the size of the bars to a fixed ratio of size:ticks. And then just use ctrl-drag to move the scale up and down. I too often accidentally change the absolute value of the range of the y-axis by dragging instead of ctrl-dragging.
Oh yeah, that one, I made that request like 3 years ago, and I'm still waiting You should not even had to use the control key. Just like a simple horizontal drag moves the chart horizontally, a simple vertical drag should move the chart vertically, while keeping the scaling the same.
Just released my version that works much better than previous one. Much easier to use as all scaling calculations are automatic. Requires just one TickRange parameter.
NinjaTrader Ver 7.0.1000.8
Same purpose as ChartScale indicator but much superior and requires just one TickRange parameter. It will work perfect in history while you scrolling back.
I am a NinjaTrader user and am active in the NT Support Forum under the same user name "sandman". I was doing a bit of research and came across yours and the CSK ChartScale indicator. I tried everything in NinjaTrader's Property/Scale settings, the ChartScale indicator mentioned and also one indicator called Constant Lines, all of them are cumbersome to work with. Thus I am hoping that what you have worked out is an improvement. I am wondering whether you would make it available to me?
What I can offer in return is some helpful data concerning 6E (EUR/Dlrs) which I believe I saw noted as the Futures contract you most like to trade, but of course, only if you are interested. And if you are already totally profitable in your trades then you won't need it (never try to fix something that is not broken).
Hi All one!!!!
I Have downloaded this indicator ( CSK_ChartScale ) But other users did not understood how it works.
Please anyone can help us?
Much Thanks!!!!!!
