Any idea why I get the error massage "The prior close is not within the range of selected RTH session?" I have the anaPivotsDaily v37 loaded on a 377T CL11-11 chart with 31 days of data.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Thanks Fat Tails. First, sorry for the typo, the indicator is the PivotsWeekly. I have 31 days of data loaded with the session template 24/7 for the series.
I am getting quite a number of messages and mails, how to configure the various pivot indicators, so I decided to post a brief summary and explain via a few examples, how to draw the pivots where you want them. I attach the SessionPivots indicators for …
I have been asked several times to put this information into a thread in a condensed form along with the class of indicators that I have coded for sessions. So here it comes. The idea is to explain, why it is useful to use sessions, how to set up the …
CL is a floor traded instrument. Pivots work best, if you set them to RTH. With the setting "Custom", which shows on the indicator dialogue box, this would be achieved.
However, no pivot indicator will work with a session template 24/7. This session template is basically nonsense, as there are no instruments - not a single one! - which have trading hours from midnight EST to midnight EST.
All my session indicators catch the session times from the templates. If you do not use session templates none of them will work correctly. The required session template for each instrument is different, for each instrument you need to look up the trading hours - official hours of the trading day as also used for margin requirements and clearing - and then enter that session template and select it under instrument settings. From then on you will open all you charts with instrument settings and you are done.
On your chart, the indicator tries to calculate the pivots for the second intraday session, although a second intraday session does not exist. The prior week low on your chart is the ETH low. As there is no RTH session on your chart, the indicator cannot retrieve the RTH low.
If you post a chart again, please make sure that all prior week high, low and close are visible for comparison.

Thank a bunch Fat Tails. I actually use the "custom" session for the Pivots and the NT default instrument settings on my charts, however, I need to go back and check the custom session templates to make sure they are correctly set for my time zone (Pacific).
Hello Harry,
I've used ana43 for ages and get the referred to message oftentimes but have never been able to get my head around why or how to resolve.
For example, today I have it on FDAX, YM and ES but not GC, CL or NQ.
I'll post any screenshots you'd like if you would be kind enough to give your assistance, however that could be many - so I'll explain first......
I use your indicators in several instances - so I have Auto, RTH and ETH, Floor and Wide and Camarilla on FDAX, for example.
I use Session Templates for all instruments. So, for FDAX, I have 07:50 to 17:30 and 17:30 to 22:30 Sessions, UTC+1 Exchange, and RTH Session set to First.
I'm not actually sure in my mind what the message is telling me anyhow, i.e. what it means.
Any help appreciated. Any images required just ask. I haven't posted because it would be tens of them to cover everything
Best
Bruce
Edit - OK this thread motivated me to do something about it, atleast. So, it seems to me, this is when using the RTH Session for pivots and is to do with which Close Setting to use. I've got the Close Setting set to Daily Bars, which I do because I use the Kinetic EOD trick to get Settlement Close price.
