I am trying to do an enhancement for the Fractals_Mike indicator and I am getting a serialization error.
I added a variable Vlongflag to identify signals in the opposite direction. So for example if you go up through three levels and then drop down through a level the flag usually (not always) changes value identifying a turn and puts an arrow on the chart. This gets rid of signals that occur in the same direction.
The variable plevel is a dataseries. With plevel I am trying to export a stream of values to another indicator so I can show the directional changes in a subwindow. I think this dataseries is giving me the serialization error.
I have looked through various pieces of code both on futures.io (formerly BMT) and the web on how to deal with serialization. I have not been able to solve the issue.
Whoever wrote the original indicator does know how to serialize. Thanks to @Big_Mike and @PiCoTrader for the excellent indicator.
Anyways any help in getting rid of the serialization error would be greatly appreciated.
These arrows were generated with the indicator I posted in the above post.
I am not having a problem with the arrows. The problem I am having is because of the serialization issue the indicator cannot be saved as part of a template, so I would like to fix the serialization problem.
It is interesting to compare the signals this indicator generates compared to say what a macd or stochastic generates. That is what I am trying to do ultimately - to get a sine wave from the Fractals_Mike overlayed on a macd in the same sub-window.
I have done this - but with a serialization error - and it won't save.
If no arrows are showing in real time try setting the "Calculate on bar close" to true. That may fix the problem.
I couldn't find the Fractals_Mike indicator anywhere other than this thread.
Whoever wrote this indicator has done an excellent job of finding near term support and resistance.
I'm using this on CL, on a 5 minute chart, with a period of 5.
The key is that whenever the first blue or red dot pops up....you have to try to enter the trade and use the dot as your stop.
Sometimes, price will reverse sharply off the dot, and theres no opportunity to trade (other than chase it....which you NEVER want to do).
The best opportunities are when dot 1 has formed, and price is still hanging around the dot.
Whoever Big Mike is, I want to thank you for allowing Elite members access to all these free indicators.....they are simply fantastic....and do exactly what most of the "pay" chatrooms do.
The main reason I like this one is that there aren't a lot of settings to adjust....you load it, set the period, and you're done.
I'm going to try to post screenshots of my trading.
I also would like to know if there is any documentation on this indicator, specifically for me understanding the background painting which I assume means projected fractal crosses?
