I hope somebody here can help me understand the settings used to plot a point and figure chart in NT7.
I want to create a 6 tick reversal PnF chart. I understand the box size and reversal setting but I can't seem to get a clear explanation of the base period value setting.
When I set up the chart in data series it gives the option of setting your base chart type. I selected tick since I assume a person would want to see the movement up or down with each price tick. Then you have to select a base period value and this is where I have an issue. What effect does this number have on the chart appearance and the bar that forms?
For example if I select 500, is the bar going to mimic a 500 tick chart? Or if I select 1 is the PnF bar going to plot properly tick by tick.

Thanks in advance.
