I just installed NT 8 and it seems to be much the same as NT 7.

It's not a fair comparison since I just installed it on a new computer, but it does seem to be much faster than NT 7.

I also like that I can access different charts/timeframes as tabs at the bottom Excel style.

With NT7 you can use the nice tool developed by @ratfink to get the same functionality if not better:

I am so used to it that i think i would miss this tool if switching to NT8. I find it fast to switch between different chart groups.

Thanks, but it seems I have to be an Elite Member to access that link.

I made a similar topic at the NT support forums and some user there claims that he's had NT 8 freeze (unable to manage orders) on him and having to restart when live trading and claims others have had similar experiences...?

Since I most likely will have IB TWS as my 'back-up' this is still very bad news to me.

I can't speak to the specific individual you reference but I can say we have thousands of users using NinjaTrader 8 on a daily basis for live trading. It's also what NinjaTrader Brokerage uses on our order desk for managing risk of all our users.

I've been trialing NT8 a little and as mentioned in another thread I don't yet see or experience any huge advantages with NT8 over NT7.

The fact that something as simple as a crosshair is now causing troubles when it was never a problem on NT7 is concerning. I also hear of other people having performance issues.

Allegedly, the crosshair issue is now fixed (I haven't upgraded in 4 weeks or so), but it seems like it's taken over a year to fix.

I haven't done any scientific comparsions, but I don't really feel it's any faster either. Also, with NT7 I have quite a few indicators available to me that I would now have to convert to NT8.

In the end, I will probably move on to NT8, but I am a bit disappointed and the performance issues I hear other people having is not helping either.
