I'm trying to import a ninjascript and ninja says that I have a custom script with an error that must be resolved before I can. (probably one of my failed attempts to code!) how do I find it and delete it so I can use the import utility again?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Look at your tracefile. You will find it under Own Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> trace. Open today's trace file with the editor and read the messages. It will identify the offensive indicator or strategy.
Second step:
Delete the offensive indicators, either from within NinjaTrader or by going to Own Documents -> NinjaTrader -> bin -> Custom -> Indicator
Third Step:
After deleting the offensive files, edit any indicator from within NinjaTrader and compile via F5.
One way I discovered by accident instead of trace file was to open an indicator (one that you know is good like EMA) for edit in Ninja Script and compile it without making a change. If you have bad indicators, a listing of errors will be displayed at the bottom with the associated indicator names. Take note of these indicators and delete them per Fat Tails' step2 and 3.
I've deleted anything that looks suspicious, all that is left is stuff from 7/12/2010 see attached.
I poured through the trace file -- I can't see it
see attached
(why can't the x&%$# ninja error code specify the name of the bad file?
e.g.
You must delete or fix fid.cs in dir .... before being able to use the import?
same kind of errors might apply to the strategy directory, move to another dir (temporary) all indicators and strategies and check if it works. If yes you will have to check all your indies one by one.
Also, since you are using NT 6.5 check that your script is from that version and not NT7, sometimes they are not compatible.
