As it says it's a "semi human powered flying device". I didin't catch that
for a while. It uses two 2000 watt motors as the you tube video below states.
Another thing that's being worked on and thought about is jumping out of
an airplane and gliding and landing without a parachute. That would
be awesome if/when it could be done.
Yes Fat Tails, I think I might have seen him before.
Someday, unless there is a global cataclysm, the more affluent countries, will
stop building roads. Everyone will take their car, that is flying car, to go where
they want. These people of the future will look back at our cars as we look back
at the horse-drawn carriage. This isn't a future we'll see though.
I am always shocked how simple-minded most science-fiction authors are. It is only about flying saucers and space ships.
People don't understand that we are not a species, but part of an eco-system, to which we are adapted, which includes natural food, bacteria and much more.
People will not be flying around in future by using inefficient machines. The current waste of energy and natural resources and the extinction of 50% or more of all species is a temporary phenomen that can not be sustained. Driving a 100 kg living organism around in a 1,500 kg steel cage is ridiculous, not sexy.
The future will see light, slower moving vehicles and new tools for mass transport that are fit for the purpose, but there will certainly be no supermans flying around the sky.
Maybe I can change the thread in: I wish I could fly or They Beleive I can fly
'Birdman' confesses film was a hoax
The flying Dutchman has turned out to be a lying Dutchman after human birdman Jarno Smeets confessed that his film showing him using a pair of wings to fly like a bird was in fact a hoax.
By Bruno Waterfield, Brussels10:45AM GMT 23 Mar 2012
Mr Smeets, told a Dutch television programme on Thursday night that he was in fact the animator Floris Kaayk who had made the film as an experiment in how viral online media works.
He developed the video over an eight-month period not as a deliberate fake but as a way of "telling a story via a blog".
"It's about the dream so many people have," he told the De Wereld Draait Door television show about the fantasy of flying unaided like a bird.
There have been an estimated nine million viewers of Mr Kaayk's video despite scientific scepticism over the apparent successful test flight of a 17-metre wing suit contraption.
The NRC Handelsblad newspaper concluded today that: "The Flying Dutchman is now essentially proved to be the Lying Dutchman."
