Is it a good idea to pay for Elite membership for a talented family member or a friend?
My personal answer is a BIG No and I already read about one bad example here to confirm my bias (he was eventually banned from this site).
I would like to know examples where an Elite member paid for someone else as a gift and had a positive outcome.
A small story and the reason for this question.
My younger and talented cousin completed some sort of finanicial course & trading in US in 2012. He couldn't get a job in his field and was struggling a bit in 2013. My interest in technical analysis of trading also just started around the same time.
When we met for 2013 X-mas, I 'made him an offer he can't refuse'. Deal was this - He will open a trading account with 10k. He will pay 5k and I will pay 5k. If he profits, he keeps all of them 100%. Loss will be split equally 50%. In return, he tells me why he entered and exit a trade so that I get some education. Simple.
I didn't hear back from him for another 12 months!
When we met again 2 months ago, he was still doing a non-financial job. I raved about this forum and he agreed to look into it. He became a member (non-elite) soon, posted once in the introduction section and had NOT logged in for a month now.
I know I have painted a negative picture about his motivation but I have 3 to 4 family members who may benefit from Elite membership. Hence I would like to know of any positive experience from members who gave Elite membership as a gift and felt glad that they did.
