Anyone using Seer?

Trading Platform Software for [AUTOLINK]backtesting[/AUTOLINK] & auto trading, for stock, futures and forex trading systems » Seer

They bill it as an institutional grade multi-product/asset portfolio trading platform with built-in R and Perl integration, backtesting capabilities, portfolio view charting, etc.

Lots of videos on their site.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I don't currently use it, but i have previously used it for over 12 months. I would recommend it for its speed and flexibility. It uses perl as the programming language, which i liked. You can do portfolio-level multi-symbol, multi-strategy testing and can code complex entry/exits. Its only drawback is the paucity of shared code due to its small user base, but i think its benefits far outweigh this consideration. I used it to code and test MP-related setups using 10 years of 1 minute bars.

I would definitely recommend seer.

Pros include R and Perl integration (love that) and high performance (though backtester is apparently single-threaded/core so that's "sub-optimal" for what I need unfortunately). They support FXCM and IB ($100/mo) which is also somewhat of a non-starter for me as I'd rather use Oanda (and IQFeed is only used for historical data?).

The big "oh no" for me though was the lack of range bar support - it immediately made me think of this as simply an upgraded Metatrader with some additional bells & whistles but nothing I can switch to from either NT or MC.

Again - sigh. Really wanted another option that had R support...
