I do not want to promote Dorman as a broker, but I think that most, if not all of important platforms you can find on the website dormantrading. From your list there are Multicharts, Sierrachart and Motivewave.
I would probably vote for Sierrachart but I do not feel confortable when the only option is the monthly payment.
Certain brokers offer free Multicharts when you open a real account with them.
Personally I do not like Java, but I could consider Motivewave as a valid option.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
No, you cannot work inside Visual Studio. All the strategies for NT or MC can be run only inside NT or MC. Visual Studio you can use only as a text editor (and debugger). Also you cannot run a strategy as a stand alone app.
The reason is in shell features. It doesn't matter what the language you use (C#, eazy or etc). But if you develop a strategy inside some shell (like NT) all your code can be started only inside this shell. And yes, .NET features will be also limited.

I am not here neither to promote Visual Studio
nor to teach anyone how to use it.
Strategies written inside NT editor - so called NinjaScript strategies should be run only inside NT,
and from that perspective using VS is not even necessary.
But not all the strategies for NT have to be NinjaScript strategies.
If it matters, one can create the stategy ( inside Visual Studio ) that can run as a standalone application
and this is possible exactly because it is written 'outside of NT shell', which may not be practical
as it could not run 'inside of the shell' hence you may not be able to backtest it.
But then one can divide the strategy into the part that runs 'inside of the shell' and the part that runs 'outside of the shell'
how they can communicate between each other ? It's a kind of magic.

for now i've tried to program strategy using sierra chart - it's seem a very powerfull tool, but there is not a lot of documentations, it's not really object oriented, really old school
then I did the same strategy, backtesting and optimizing using multicharts.net - it easy to understand, there is a lot of documentation, but it's not really transparent. There are some complicated rules, how your orders from strategy are translated to real order send to the broker.
does anyone tested motivewave? what you think about this tool?

They are Java based.
They claim to be used by small prop firms and investors. But the software has a subcritption cost $300-500 per month.
I came across them in my search for a new platform as well.
